A LESSON FOR LIFE

A Sanskrit saying says "KALAYA TASMAI NAMAHA", meaning everything is enslaved by time; everything changes with time; nothing is eternal. Writing this post on my blog, I exclaim "How true!!". One of my recent experiences did change my outlook towards life - until which I strongly believed that though times change, people with who I have grown up shall remain the same; the equation between those people and me shall never change. No wonder great souls have said that life is the greatest teacher and that man is a constant learner throughout life. You can always take home positives from the darkest of situations(something which Dhoni says after each and every defeat - whether he does, it's a question mark!!).

It had been a very long time - 6-7 months - since we schoolmates met. This time we did for a cricket match. Just to rekindle that on-field rivalry between the teams. Off-field, we are all great friends - or so we pretend to be! I thought 'Let me observe as I play. Maybe, I shall get something to write'. Initially, I thought none of us have changed - we still stuck to the habit of running late!! As usual, everybody gathered around an hour late. The first change I saw was that we - who greeted each other with bear hugs - had suddenly become formal and the greeting was through handshakes - as though we had met for a business meeting to close deals!! It is just 5 months into college and we have changed so much!
It seemed like we have aged years; grown old; have lost out our youth..... Yes. Egos seemed to have crept in from nowhere. Nobody seems to listen to the other....Each has his own way....And I wondered if were playing as a team at all....Months ago we were all working as a team to inflict defeat on the opponent and now....We seemed to be willing to outshine our own team mates - even at the cost of the game itself!
Also, the bodies seemed to have rusted in the long gap. Maybe due to lack of time after entering college, maybe due to the change of priorities on entering college - whatever the reason is, it was indeed difficult to perform like the OLDEN DAYS - the body just didn't co-operate.
As we sat in a huddle after the game, I saw new persons in everyone. They seemed to have matured so much within those 6-7 months. Have they really grown up? Or is it a change in me that makes them look different? You never know...Because even I am affected by time. All my BUDDIES appeared to have built high fortresses of ego around themselves. They wanted to be different. At the same time, I noticed a self within themselves craving to break free and return back to the (G)OLDEN DAYS. They wanted to talk like the earlier days, wanted to use their favorite slangs - which to a certain extent they did. Yet, something seemed to stop them.
Sitting here, writing, a question crops at the back of my mind - "Did we really want to change? Or is it that we were forced to change by the ever moving currents and tides of time?". All we can do is to hope. Hope that things once again return to the way they were. After all, a great soul has said "The wings of hope carry us, soaring above the driving winds of life." The self within me asks if  I have learnt anything at all from this experience.... Ah! Yes I have.... Life is never the same.... As I have heard someone say - change is the only constant!!!

"ಸಾವನ್ನು ಗೆಲ್ಲುವುದು ಸುಲಭವೂ ಅಲ್ಲ;

THE BEAUTY OF CREATION

After nearly 5 months, I am back. All this while, I felt "There is so much to write about in the world around me". But, I was neither in the state of mind to sit and write nor did I find time. With this poem, I do hope to awaken my thoughts again - and rekindle that doused flame.... Hope you people do enjoy it!!!

I sit down - with a pen in hand.
The urge to create engulfs me!
With high spirits, I gaze at Nothing -
wondering what Nothing could be!!

Mr.Nothing stares back at me & asks
"Do I bring with me something?
When you look at me & I - at you,
Do I set you to think?"

I think & think for a while
I feel I hear something -
A sweet voice. A soft voice.
A lullaby does it sing!

The Lady loves me - am within Her.
I kick Her & give Her pain.
Still She receives those kicks with love -
Immense joy does She gain!

I grow a little - I grow some more
I make Her "swell" with pride!
The man-in-the-white-coat says I am fine -
Her joy She is unable to hide!!

The Day comes - I have to move
Out of this Lady of Love.
Again I give Her pain - She screams.
I come to Earth somehow!!

The Masked Man gives me to Her
I am Her Bundle of Joy -
With tears in Her eyes, with love
She says "Ah!! My baby boy!!"

My thoughts are my children:
Now, my mind is in labor -
They are giving me a lot of pain!
But once I see my thoughts on paper,
Immense pleasure do I gain!!

With every child, a parent is born -
Oh! What a wonderful relation!
What starts in pain, ends with joy -
That is the Beauty of Creation!!!

LADIES' PLEASURE

The characters that shall appear in the course of the narration are slightly real and slight fictional. The characteristics are slightly more real and slightly less fictional. ANY RESEMBLENCE TO THOSE LIVING OR DEAD IS NOT COINCIDENTAL. HOWEVER IT IS NOT INTENDED TO HURT ANYONE. Vishwa, who was busy wih his own works is back to share is experience again!!!!

"I had tried to devise ways many ways of spending time in holidays. Unfortunately none of them were realistic enough to be implemented. Don't bother to find out what I had planned. And I won't bother telling them to you. And one fine day, my music master told us of a workshop that he would conduct for a week. It was open to students and non-students too. Having nothing else to do, I enrolled myself for the workshop.
On the opening day, I was shocked to find that there were more non-students - or atleast those students I had not come across - than students. The workshop had a fair share of representation of all age-groups : young 'uns, teenagers, working men and women, housewives, retired people - everybody. And we men - including all age groups except the young 'uns - were a minority: accounting not even 13% of the total number of attendees!!! 'Alas!' I said to myself.
But as the workshop progressed, I realised all was not lost. We men being the minority gave me an opportunity to observe what was happening around me - we men did not chatter away, though we did talk!! And my observations are the essence of this narration.
"Understanding a woman's mind is the toughest task" - I have heard in some movie. "How true!" -  I felt during the course of the workshop. They seem to have built those high walls of ego around themselves and seldom do they come out of their fortresses. A small correction by another lady hurts their ego. Though they know they are on the wrong, they fail to accept that; and when they do, they do it grudgingly. And the lady who corrected seems to derive great pleasure when they correct at her command!! I don't know if the other male students or the master observed this; but I did and laughed to myself.
And there was this young girl - hardly 12 years old. But she seemed to command the other young 'uns. One of the male students called the elderly Ms.Correction and told "That girl is much like yourself...Bossing around". I don't know what both the Ms.Corrections felt. But that remark seemed to drain the colour off their faces. How embarassing it must have been for them to receive such a comment in front of everybody - specially the other ladies!! I silently wished "God save the man who made that comment!"
There was another lady. God seemed to have been unfair - very unfair - to her. She was a dwarf. I don't know how old she is, but according to me, she isn't too young to qualify for the young 'uns category. She did not seem to mind initially - being in that category. But when you receive glares from someone who is very much younger to you,- and if you are a lady - you don't like it, do you?
Well, that young Ms.Correction did not seem mature enough to understand all that, though she appeared to be aged enough to boss over her fellow students!!
Though I observed so many things happening around me, I never really understood what real pleasure women get when they hurt a fellow woman's feelings...ego rather. May be I would have if men and women were from the same planet.(Men are from Mars & Women are from Venus - it is believed to be so.).
And no doubt that great thinkers believe that women have been the greatest mystery in the universe!!"
